Barbecuing at the Cottage
Ahh, the barbecue. There is something sacred to Canadians about barbecuing; it probably has to do with the short summer we have. Sure we've been known to stand out in the snow on the deck, and yes there are indoor grills, but nothing quite matches that special appeal, even if it's just a hot dog. While most of the cottage meals are not actually prepared on this fine piece of equipment, what springs faster to mind when you think of dinners by the lake or in the mountains? Perhaps it is the convenience of having fewer utensils to clean that makes it such a good match for getting away or maybe it is just spending more time in the great outdoors. Whether you are "grilling" (high heat) or "barbecuing" proper (slow-cooking), everything just tastes better off the grill - veggies included. |
